While the population of Comino once numbered around 40 people with a thriving farming community, today it is down to just a few, making Salvu a living piece of Maltese history.

Living on an island with no shops and limited services requires a special kind of resilience. But Salvu describes Comino as "the best home" and claims to feel like one of the richest people on earth because of the peace and nature that surrounds him.

If you imagine Salvu living a primitive life, think again. He is a brilliant, self-taught mechanical engineer and inventor. To adapt to island life, he has built his own electric cars, constructed a remote-controlled stainless steel boat trailer to launch his boat, and even experimented with building a hovercraft from recycled materials.

He is also a lover of technology. Believe it or not, Salvu owns over 20 drones, which he uses to capture stunning aerial footage of his island home.
